Dr. Ibrahim Abbas - Senior R&D Manager, Penford Food Ingredients

Dr. Ibrahim Abbasis a Senior R&D Manager at Penford Food Ingredients. He has a PhD in Agricultural Biochemistry & Nutrition, University of Arizona, major emphasis in Food Science. His main research interest has been starch chemistry. Abbasis has an MBA from Purdue University Calumet, general management and Post-Doctorate Researcher from Iowa State University; emphasis, isolation and characterization of starch from single corn kernels. He authored or co-authored more than 10 technical articles and one book chapter plus 3 US patents. He worked for 15 years at American Maize Products Company, Cerestar and Cargill as a Starch/Carbohydrate Chemist, a group manager and an R&D director. He has been with Penford Food Ingredients for nearly 10 years as a Sr. R&D Manager. His major duties include new product & application development, generating new ideas and providing technical recommendations to internal and external customers. He is actively involved in developing customer solutions to create new international business opportunities.
