America’s Best Raisin Bread Contest
IBIE 2013 was proud to host the top 36 finalists competing to create ‘America’s Best Raisin Bread’. The contest, supported by the California Raisin Marketing Board, was designed to promote raisins as an ingredient for baked goods and to encourage new product development.
B.E.S.T. in Baking Program
As part of a commitment to positive transformation in the world, the International Baking Industry Exposition, together with Bundy Baking Solutions and Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, recognized suppliers that foster energy conservation, reduce water usage, decrease landfill waste, support healthy living and/or reduce the overall impact on the environment. Amoretti Demo Theater
Featuring daily demos for pastry chefs and culinary professionals, the Amoretto Demo Theater located on the show floor provided creative ideas and practical tips from the experts that could be applied immediately to enhance and improve attendees own retail offerings.
The Great American Pie Festival
The Great American Pie Festival was an activity-filled environment on the show floor featuring live entertainment, festival merchandise, free prizes and most importantly, a variety of ready-made pies available from baking manufacturers, including Bonert’s Slice of Pie, Cyrus O’Leary’s Pies, Rocky Mountain Pies and Duncan Hines Globe, giving expo-goers an opportunity to taste-test to their heart’s content.
Innovation Showcase
IBIE 2013 put baking’s newest advances on full display in one efficient, state-of-the-art center of innovation. Attendees were able to browse the Innovation Showcase, located in the Convention Center Lobby, to see new products and technology that would equip their operation for the future. Entries include Ingredients, Equipment, Packaging and Safety products that have not exhibited at any previous IBIE event.
PMQ Pizza Village
IBIE introduced pizza to the 2013 Baking Expo™ thanks to a partnership with PMQ Pizza Magazine, which included the PMQ Pizza Village—a unique town-hall style pavilion on the show floor featuring pizza-related exhibitors, competitions, demonstrations and more. In addition to exhibitors and industry experts, the PMQ Pizza Village also featured a demo area to host the American Pizza Championships cooking contest and the thrilling U.S. Pizza Team Trials where ‘Pizzathletes’ competed in freestyle pizza acrobatics.

RBA’s 13th Annual Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus Creative Decorating Competition
Creativity took center stage when 12 of the country’s top professional cake decorators challenged each other to a contest of imagination, artistry and skill during one of baking’s most prestigious competitions.
RPIA’s Business of Baking for Beginners (BOB)
This all-day workshop was designed for people new to the bakery business. Attendees were able to learn from five Certified Master Bakers, who shared their tricks of the trade and answered all your questions. Tailored specifically for people with five years experience or less in the business.
TIA Technical Conference
Held in conjunction with IBIE, the Tortilla Industry Association’s cutting-edge technical program addressed operation skills, safety regulations, quality control, plant efficiency and best practices to capitalize on the baking industry’s fastest growing market segment.
U.S. Pastry Competition
At IBIE 2013, we were counting down the minutes until the 25th Annual U.S. Pastry Competition – America’s Most Prestigious Pastry Competition where The Pastry Chef of the Year is annually recognized by this nation’s top professionals. Attendees who couldn’t stand the anticipation were invited to preview the 2013 competition and watch what was in store for March 2014.
